The Full Story

About

The Home Library Archive is the catalog of my books, every volume I've kept, arranged and described. I started this because personal libraries almost never get taken seriously. They get called "just my books" and shelved without arrangement, without description, without any record of why they matter. But a home library is a kind of cultural document. It shows what one reader was paying attention to, which worlds they kept returning to, and how wildly different genres can sit on the same shelf and still make sense together. Mine spans fantasy, science fiction, literary fiction, classics, non-fiction, and manga, and in this archive, they finally share a room. The three categories, completed series, stand-alone books, and incomplete series, are laid out in the finding aid.

Modern Library Interior

Mission

The Home Library Archive is a personal book collection treated with archival rigor. We describe and arrange books across various genres so that one household's library becomes browsable and findable.
